about

Oxford Young Steps Started in 2005 in Rosehill, Oxfordshire with 7 young people meeting at an open basketball court located in a PARK. OYS used to meet two evenings a week for one hour, teaching and training young people with different basketball drills and techniques. Gradually the young people started increasing in number and got very determined and consistent to meet up at regular times in a disciplined manner, which taught them to work as single players and as a team. Hence, they started growing in peace and love with each other and learnt new skills with fun and enjoyment. while operating from open air basketball court, OYS faced different issues when the weather was rainy, cold, or windy. hence OYS started looking for an indoor basketball COURT, which we found in BARTON neighbourhood centre which had indoor facilities too.

Oxford Young Steps helps to develop the capacity and skills of those who are socially and economically disadvantaged in such a way that we can help identify, and help meet their needs which further helps them to participate more fully in society; iii) to help young people through:

a) The provision of recreational and leisure time activities provided in the interest of social welfare, designed to improve their conditions

of life.

b) Providing support and activities which develop their skills, capacities, and capabilities to enable them to participate in society as mature

and responsible individuals.
